A breathtaking, rare 1940s evening gown by Ted Shore for Frank Starr Original.
The Frank Starr Originals label was well known in the 40s and 50s and the name became synonymous with the glamorous, high quality, beautifully made garments he brought to the ready-to-wear market.
The label would later change when his son Malcolm, who had been hired as a costume designer took over the company.
The new label Malcolm Starr would continue with great success and strengthen the company’s reputation for high quality, beautiful designs. The addition of elaborate beadwork and sequin adornments to silk metallic fabrics, was his contribution in revitalizing the classic styles of the 60s and 70s.
His unmistakable designs were highly coveted and remain iconic to this day!
However, you don’t need to be a history buff to appreciate the skillful work that went into making this magnificent gown which demonstrates the timeless and quintessential style of
‘Old Hollywood Glam’
This gown is in excellent condition and features a matching cropped jacket with pleated bust and dainty fabric covered buttons which decorate the front closure.
Underneath, the impressive spaghetti strap gown features a sweetheart neckline, fitted bodice with basque waist above a massive skirt with structural gathering from hip to hem.
Wearable history in the best shade of shocking pink!
Excellent condition - fastens along the side with metal zipper.

Vintage garments have been previously worn and lovingly cared for. They will likely have general wear and blemishes. We try our best to note any major wear or damages on each garment - although we may sometimes overlook things - which we do apologize for.
Please do not expect all vintage garments to come perfect, unless “MINT CONDITION” has been stated in the description.

Please make sure you check all the measurements of the garment before purchasing. Vintage garment sizes are not the same as those of today. Most vintage garments do not have the stretch or give of modern fabrics. To ensure the best fit, we suggest you measure (twice) a similar garment and compare it to the measurements we have listed.


We cannot offer refunds for fit issues, variances in monitor colors, or buyer’s remorse since these things are out of our control.
