One of the more special pieces we’ve had the privilege to acquire is this museum quality, early 1950s Jacques Fath Haute Couture day ensemble.
While not a household name today, Fath was known as one of the “Big Three” Parisian names in Haute Couture alongside the likes of Dior and Balmain.
This particular piece was designed by Fath himself sometime between 1950 and before his untimely death in 1954.
Constructed entirely by hand, the exquisite ensemble is of a very fine wool tweed with velvet accents.
The jacket is tailored to perfection and features a rounded collar with a sash which ties to the back (a signature of his style), 4 large buttons down the front, princess seaming front-to-back and velvet trimmed cuff (mimicking the collar) with bow detail on the back!
The tea length a-line skirt fastens at both sides of the back with metal Eclair zippers.
The jacket is lined with crepe while the skirt is lined with taffeta.
Excellent condition - there is a mark above the label on the inside of the jacket where we assume a sticker label of some sort once was.

Vintage garments have been previously worn and lovingly cared for. They will likely have general wear and blemishes. We try our best to note any major wear or damages on each garment - although we may sometimes overlook things - which we do apologize for.
Please do not expect all vintage garments to come perfect, unless "MINT CONDITION" has been stated in the description.
Please make sure you check all the measurements of the garment before purchasing. Vintage garment sizes are not the same as those of today. Most vintage garments do not have the stretch or give of modern fabrics. To ensure the best fit, we suggest you measure (twice) a similar garment and compare it to the measurements we have listed.
We cannot offer refunds for fit issues, variances in monitor colors, or buyer’s remorse since these things are out of our control.
ALL SALES ARE FINAL. .
